Job Description

This job role will be for India

 

The central responsibility of this position is to act as the Nomac Technical Authority on chemistry, with respect to RO process chemistry & boiler (or HRSG) water/steam cycle chemistry. Providing advisory, diagnosis and root cause analysis services, supporting the predictive analytics & diagnostics solution while proposing existing or new solutions. The role requires detailed tracking of chemistry & emissions compliance, support in the development of plant chemistry programs and development of action plans / other solutions to enhance plant’s reliability.

 

  • Manage the chemistry dashboard and issue reports to site, tracking actions as required.
  • Ensure that plant instrumentation is adequate in order to effectively monitor asset integrity risks resulting from incorrect chemistry control.   
  • Work & Collaborate with MPC to provide support on unexpected deviations in process parameters of a chemical nature.
  • Provides guidance and interpretation regarding Boiler water/steam cycle chemistry, corrosion and corrosion product generation, transport, deposition and the effect on heat transfer for applicable power & water process equipment including - water and steam-touched surfaces; Cooling water systems; Desalination systems; Water treatment equipment such as demineralizers, membranes, condensate polishers, cooling towers, and on-line cycle water chemistry analysers.
  • Support fossil fuel generation, CSP and water production plants by maintaining clear and consistent records of all analytical results. Providing leadership to the business concerning water quality control.
  • Ensure the water quality is within EPRI POE guidelines for asset protection for fossil generating fleet (including CSP steam cycle).
  • If not within EPRI POE guidelines, notify plant management. Also in conjunction with others develop actions and required timeframe for gap closure plan.
  • Performs oversite for complex and routine chemical testing of products and processing materials.
  • Advises based on quantitative evidence or advice from vendor/ experts or others.  Providing consultation and problem solving to Nomac personnel on chemicals/product quality problems and provide recommended course of action.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting, data review and trend monitoring, historical trend reviews, event follow-up, root cause analysis, support plant maintenance strategies.
  • Provide information and training for operations and sharing of lessons learned with internal peers.
  • Provide support for chemical budget creation at plant sites and estimations for BD team during bid preparation phase.
  • Work & Collaborate with other technical teams to address business challenges.
  • Must leverage industry experience, equipment knowledge, software know-how, to support world class predictive analytics and monitoring solutions.
  • Acts as a resource for others in solution design.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the chemistry monitoring.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and implement appropriate plans and solutions to drive ongoing improvement of asset/system reliability within power & water sites.

Technical Expertise

  • Act as centre of expertise providing in-depth technical knowledge on power & water chemistry. Using that knowledge to design and implement solutions to improve the plant efficiency and reliability in the long term.

  • Develop the corporate procedures for monitoring chemistry levels in fossil fuel, (including CSP steam cycle) and sea water desalination plants.

Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or B. S. Degree in chemistry studies,

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in the field with high focus on plant reliability.
