Job Description

2. JOB PURPOSE:

To lead the new Robot JV Co. business unit P/L and ensure effective implementation of strategic and operational plans to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operations of all plants in the region, optimum utilization of resources and delivery of uninterrupted supply of Robots, whilst fulfilling all contractual obligations, maximizing revenue and ensuring business continuity.

4. Key Accountabilities

Strategy & Plans

§ Develop the company wide operations strategy in line with NOMAC’s strategy to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departments.

§ Regularly report to the VP NMES & Board of SOLMAC on the operational activities of the company, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc., as required, to keep them informed and updated on the company’s activities.

§ Monitor the performance of the company against the key performance metrics, to ensure deviations from performance targets are identified, reported, and actioned upon in a timely and efficient manner.

§ Act as a part of the Senior Leadership Team, and identify short and long-term opportunities for growth and cost-optimization for NOMAC and guide the development and implementation of initiatives and projects that support these plans.

Board and Committee Representation

§ As assigned, act as a Board member for certain NOMAC subsidiaries and be a part of several committees to provide relevant advice to ensure the achievement of the stated objectives.

Business Development

§ Lead the bidding process for all company wide Solar PV projects, including review of SOLMAC’s proposal, documentation and other requirements, to develop competitive bids to enable growth of ACWA/NOMAC’s portfolio and help meet its long-term strategic objectives.

§ Have a thorough understanding of the contractual terms with the project companies and lead the techno-commercial negotiations to secure the best terms for the business in the interests of SOLMAC and shareholders.

Project set up

§ Oversee the setting up of Robots’ Assembly & Manufacturing Workshop & Offices in KSA region and the early mobilization of resources to help set up the basic infrastructure for providing support during installation and testing of robots at site including systems, policies, procedures to ensure the company is set up in adherence to SOLMAC’s governance and control framework and systems, which should mirror NOMAC’s systems.

People Management

§ Manage and monitor the performance of direct and indirect reports, defining workforce requirements and recruiting, in conjunction with the Human Resources function, to ensure competent, qualified and highly motivated staff are available to enable the achievement of the company’s objectives.

§ Manage the effective achievement of the team’s objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing the team and providing formal and informal feedback to maximise overall performance, engagement and motivation.

Financial Management

§ Understand the financial metrics / costs/ contractual obligations of each project of ACWA Power / NOMAC in the Region, to ensure the achievement of the revenue, costs, profitability and productivity targets through Purchase Orders of Robots & Other Systems.

§ Develop the company’s budget and manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

§ Present the company’s financial statement to SOLMAC Board in conjunction with the CFO of SOLMAC on quarterly basis or as need may be and get resolutions approved.

Company performance

§ Manage the development and implementation of the annual KPIs process for the company including all business units and ensure the efficient monitoring of their achievement, to identify performance gaps and recommend ways to improve them.

Technical Guidance  

§ Guide the business units to meet approved production objectives while providing technical guidance and expertise to ensure timely resolution of issues and recommend changes to approved policies considering technological developments and changing business conditions to be considered at Board level.

§ Direct the Performance Assurance Function to facilitate and continuously improve the performance of all solutions (including products and services) in the Territory as mentioned in Shareholders Agreement, ensuring the proposals are in line with the budgets and contractual obligations, whilst achieving operational excellence and reliability.

Field Services Support Role

§ As part of leadership team of NMES, assist the Field Services business unit of NMES by sharing innovative ideas based on prior field service experience for providing end to end outage management services to all NOMAC plants with an aim to provide cost effective and high-quality services to improve long term asset reliability, whilst ensuring overall cost efficiencies, profitability of the unit and optimization of resources and time.

SAP Implementation

§ As needed, oversee and ensure the effective implementation of SAP processes within the company and adherence to SAP guidelines in all aspects of production planning, scheduling, order processing, material movement etc. in order to ensure system/data integrity in line with defined standards.

Integrated Management System Implementation

§ As needed, oversee and monitor IMS objectives, targets and programs in all the plants, through the adaptation and implementation of the policies and procedures and preparation and readiness for appropriate IMS Certifications, in order to ensure compliance to applicable Standards, existing policies and procedures of the company.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

§ Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the company to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.

Relationship Management

§ Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all relevant internal & external entities (such as Project Company, Board, shareholders, OEM contractors, local authorities etc.) with the highest standards of business ethics, whilst promptly attending to all critical issues in-order to ensure seamless business operations.

Management Reporting

§ Ensure that all reports for the company are prepared in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner, and meet shareholders’ requirements and standards.

§ Direct and provide guidance on the preparation of periodical statements and progress reports to keep the Board members informed about the progress of various initiatives and to facilitate decision making.

Policies, Processes, Systems & Procedures

§ Develop and ensure the implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Continuous Improvement

§ Identify opportunities of improvement and contribute to organisational and departmental change initiatives, programmes and projects taking into account best practice and standards in the business environment.

 Related Assignments

§ Perform any other duties which the Board Directors or Chairman may require to be carried out in line with the Shareholders Agreement.             

 

 

5. COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Needs to build a rapport with relevant contractors and vendors, Project Company, Local Authorities, External Auditors, Shareholders, other JV Partners etc.

 

 

6. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

§ A Bachelor degree holder in Engineering preferably Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electronics.

Minimum Experience:

§ Minimum 16 to 18 years of experience in the power sector and other associated sectors with minimum of 8 to 10 years in a managerial / leadership capacity. P&L accountability experience will be an added advantage.

§ 5 plus years in sales leadership position of automation products in the Middle East & Africa region. Dealing with customers in KSA and GCC will be an added advantage.

§ Having spent few years at any plant / industry will be an added advantage.
