Job Description
Job Purpose:
CNC Operators are highly skilled professionals, able to work with great concentration and precision. They must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential.
Responsibilities:
-Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
-Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
-Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
-Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
-Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
-Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
-Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
-Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
-Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
-Travel may be required
-Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on power tools, hand tools and training equipment.
-Move machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
-Align machinery and equipment using hoists, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment.
-Perform machining and welding operations for making various parts for lab and shop training equipment
-Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches.
-Responsible for shipping and receiving all major pieces for T&DC, plus all shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of tools, equipment and supplies
-Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects.
-Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
-Uses electricity and torches to produce heat and solder together components made from steel, titanium, copper, and other metals
Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
-Degree or associate degree in Technical Field, Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred
Minimum Experience:
-Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
-Proven experience as CNC operator-CNC Milling Machine-Tormack 1100M
-Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
-Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
