Director Reliability of Supply

Job Description

To lead a team that is capable of overseeing all activities of his/her staff, building reliability engineering capabilities, and deploying new maintenance strategies and other solutions for power generation plants to enhance plant’s reliability.

The director of Reliability of Supply will focus on recruiting, growing and managing a team that will support the businesses in enhancing plant reliability to meet business outcomes. The director will provide oversight, advisory, diagnosis, root cause analysis, supporting Predictive Analytics and Diagnostics solution while proposing existing or new solutions. The director is also expected to add to his/her existing technical expertise as per the demands and nature of a specific project in a company. 

Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Review performance of reliability working groups (Reliability Main Issues Focus Groups) and provide strategic direction
  • Review case for reliability for existing projects and new projects and submit for review and approval
  • Assign reliability assurance team to review the performance of project framework Team and provide strategic direction
  • Assign a reliability focused group to review internal processes or key reliability issues
  • Regularly report to and update the line manager, Top Management and Steering Committee on the operational activities of department, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc.
  • Work & Collaborate with other technical teams to address business challenges
  • Must leverage industry experience, equipment knowledge, software know-how, to support world class predictive analytics and monitoring solutions
  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering team in mitigating possible failures.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures
  • Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect various plants or business operations.
  • Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical suppliers.
  • Develop digitization strategy to monitor reliability progress across the fleet.
  • Acts as a single point of accountability for the outcomes produced by the CoE Reliability of Supply team
  • Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and implement appropriate plans and solutions to drive ongoing improvement of asset/system reliability within power sites.
  • Deep understanding and commitment to hardware and software engineering principles/processes (and continuous improvement through measurement)
  • Technical depth to push the team towards a high standard of technical excellence and achieve the organization's quality bar.
  • Significant experience in managing people in a dynamic environment and proven track records of developing people.

Technical Expertise

  • Act as centre of expertise providing in-depth technical knowledge on the Operations and Maintenance of power plants
  • Use that knowledge to design and implement solutions to improve plant reliability in the long term

Ensure the implementation of departmental policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of departmental activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities of improvement and contribute to organisational and departmental change initiatives, programmes and projects taking into account best practice and standards in the business environment.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.

Skills

  • PHD or Master’s in engineering or a bachelor’s degree with membership of a Chartered institute or Engineering body.
  • 20+ years of experience in the field with high focus on plant reliability.
  • Extensive leadership experience
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and attention to detail
  • Proven success in improving equipment/plant reliability
  • Communicate well and listen to other
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting tools, programming languages and design verification methods.
  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience with OEM or well-known Engineering Firm in large generation or O&G organizations
  • Experience with automated maintenance planning tools for tracking and enhancing asset reliability and plant availability is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
