Job Description

Currently holding a portfolio of more than 14 Gigawatt of installed Power under LTSA, and with 12 Gigawatt more under development, NMES currently performs all required outage services (minor, medium, major, CI, HGPI, MI) on 25 Gas Turbines, 26 Steam turbines and 51 Generators.
NMES supports its end-users by providing OEM level quality services and exceptional value creation through highly skilled and trained outage personnel (outage managers, Field Service Engineers, Technicians, specialists) and by applying innovative, downtime reducing services such as:

  • Spark erosion technology
  • On-site machining solutions for ST and GT casings, bearing pedestals, burner inserts, tip grinding
  • On Site Rotor Machining and Low speed Balancing
  • On site blasting, coating and curing of Compressor parts (blades/Vanes) with Aluminum Chromate coatings.
  • Re-engineering services and pump spare manufacturing.

NMES has established full-service subsidiaries in KSA, Oman and UAE and maintains a continuous presence of personnel and equipment in over 10 countries, with full-service workshops in the United Arab Emirates and Oman, and an additional facility under development in KSA to assure service readiness everywhere we do business

Objective 

The Machinist is responsible to carryout activities related to execution of work and participate actively in Operational Excellence initiatives and strategies. Key focus being management of field / workshop resources effectively to meet the customer demands with highest regard for safety and quality. Maximize the asset utilization and supporting other bases within the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
    Complies with specific task requirements including identifying potential hazards through the use of risk assessments.
  • Follows all reasonable instructions given by more supervisor on site.
    Study sample parts, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Correctly uses all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Check workpieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled.
  • Position and fasten workpieces and Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency
  • Works closely with other disciplines on site to ensure the professional and safe completion of all tasks.
  • Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
  • Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  • Interfaces with the client on site in a professional manner and represents NMES to the highest standards at all times.
  • Embrace and practice LEAD culture / Continuous Improvement across the business.
  • Work with NOMAC standard deliverables (KPI) and adhere to local laws.

  • Ensure the implementation of departmental policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of departmental activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

  • Identify opportunities of improvement and contribute to organisational and departmental change initiatives, programmes and projects taking into account best practice and standards in the business environment.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • To intervene and report any defects in equipment or practices which could affect HSSEQ performance.
  • To comply with all HSSEQ requirements imposed by client on the site.
  • To actively propose improvements in HSSEQ system.
  • To actively participate in organisational behavioural observation programs.

Related Assignments

  • Perform any other duties which the line manager may require to be carried out.

Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Mechanical degree or equivalent 

Minimum Experience

  • 3 - 5 years’ related experience 

Skills

  • Knowledge in portable / workshop machines & its operations
  • Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and
  • Environment Management System Principles. 
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, design & practices
  • Proficient in MS office applications  
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge in onsite applications related to NOMAC
  • Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines
  • Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being stored in the warehouse
