Job Summary
Sets up and operates lathes, milling machines, precision grinders, drill presses and other powered metal working tools to machine parts to specified dimensions.

Roles & Responsibilities
S. No.	Responsibility
1	To selects metallic and non-metallic materials to be machined and measures, marks or scribes dimensions and references points on to stock preparatory to machining operations.
2	To use precision measuring devices such as dial indicator, feeler gauges, height gauges, micrometers, venire calipers and dial indicators to verify conformances of machined jobs to specifications.
3	To operate bench grinder, drill machine and cutter as and when required. Also to operate Fork Lift truck if required and performs small welding and fabrication jobs.
4	To apply machinist craft, techniques, processes and principles and be responsible for all necessary preparation required to carry out machinist work equipments/area assigned to him.
5	To designs and constructs jigs and special tools to facilitate the machining, assembly or disassembly of parts and assemblies.
6	To report to his Forman for spare parts and consumables in his area to update spares availability to cope up with the maintenance requirements.
7	To be able to read and work from drawings, sketches, specifications and blue prints.
8	To apply knowledge of properties and uses of various metals such as aluminum, brass, steel, cast iron, and stainless steel as per requirement of machining tasks.
9	Follow standard procedures.
10	Use proper PPEs and implement prescribed risk controls.
11	Report deviations in Quality, Health and safety management system.
12	Report emergencies and near misses.
13	Ensure proper waste disposal measures.
14	Perform other duties as assigned.

Associate’s Diploma(3 years DAE in Mechanical )

Minimum Experience (Type and duration)

Minimum

3 - 5 years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferable

More than 5 years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills

1. Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management system principles

2. Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste

3. Knowledge of Emission Monitoring

4. Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in the plant

5. Knowledge of firefighting equipment

6. Knowledge of PPE and safety equipment

7. Knowledge of First aid measures

8. Be able to execute the machining activities with high precision.

9. Good communication skills in English Language.

Work Condition

While performing the duties of this position, the employee normally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. In high precarious places he may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or chemicals risk and electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but very loud conditions do exist.
